Services for Infants & Toddlers
For children under the age of four and as young as six months, we offer our Infant/Toddler group classes.
This program follows a parent/child format and requires an adult to participate in class with each child. Classes meet once-per-week for 30-minutes, at the same time and day every week. We offer these classes in the mornings, evenings, and afternoons. We teach every day except Fridays.
Our Infant/Toddler program follows a gentle teaching approach inspired by Rob and Kathy McKay’s Lifestyle Swim School. This course guides children through a compassionate and gradual learning progression, employing positive reinforcement and a fun social atmosphere as motivation. It's a gentle, child-centered, age-appropriate course in which we introduce skills when a child is ready, open, and relaxed. Our goal is to take the tears out of the process and foster fun in learning -- no forced back floats, no forced submersions, and no aggressive skills-based curriculum.
More specifically, our teaching environment and approach are characterized by:
- Group Lessons – We believe that infants, toddlers, and tykes benefit most in group classes, as they will learn from their peers and with the positive, encouraging, and fun social atmosphere, children will stay relaxed during class
- Parents in the Water – Our Infant/Toddler classes follow a parent/child format, and you will participate in the water with your child as an active co-teacher. This format ensures security in the learner and more efficient delivery of the material. It also promotes correct practice at home, the community pool, or the bathtub later
- Broad Age Ranges – We include a broad age range in this class because we feel that each age group brings something unique to the group – the older children bring greater coordination to master the swimming skills while the younger children bring an ease and willingness to try new things
- Consistency -- Our group classes work best with a regular uninterrupted schedule. We recommend coming twice a week and, for those who are serious about seeing quick improvement, we suggest coming multiple times per week. We understand that coming more than once-per-week is a significant commitment, but it does make the learning process much smoother and helps your young swimmer more effectively overcome any fear of the water.
HOW DOES ENROLLMENT WORK?
Enrollment in our classes is open-ended. There is no official end date to our classes and your child may join us for as long as you'd like. How long they remain enrolled in our classes will ultimately depend on your swimming goals for them. We recommend joining us for at least three-to-four months to see measurable improvements.
An evaluation of your child's skills will be sent to you every 4-5 weeks so that you may track their progress over time. When they are eligible to advance to the next level, the office will contact you about availability.
HOW MUCH IS TUITION?
Tuition is deducted from a credit or debit card that we keep on account and runs automatically on the same date each month for as long as you’re with us. Tuition is normally $128 per month. A $20 annual membership fee will be charged upon registration and re-run on the anniversary of your first date with us.
(Please note, if you discontinue your classes during the first three-months of your enrollment, a $25 cancellation fee will be charged to your account. There are no cancellation fees if you cancel after three months of enrollment.)
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Registration is available online, in person, or by phone.
