I'm Cold! How Do I Stay Warm in the Water?

Warm water is a great place to learn new skills, get over fear, and develop your confidence. But even in the 90 degree water at the Swim Studio, you can feel chilly. Unfortunately, outside of a bath tub and sauna, most swimming facilities are not so warm.

If you are registering for lessons at one of our satellite locations, the pool water temperature is going to be more balanced to the needs of all types of swimmers -- learners, seniors, lap swimmers, and competitive swimmers. Even at our Swim Studio, we would recommend considering some type of clothing to maintain your body heat.

We're all about keeping you happy and comfortable. If you or your child is sensitive to cool water temperatures, we highly recommend considering purchasing one of the following suggested types of clothing to help stay warm during the lessons:

THERMAL SHIRTS

These shirts are made of material to trap body heat in and keep the swimmer comfortable. The coaches will be wearing these shirts during the lessons. One suggestion is the FINIS Thermal Swim Shirt (www.finisinc.com).

WET SUITS

For children, another option is to purchase a wetsuit. KONFIDENCE USA (www.konfidence-usa.com) makes wetsuits for babies and children.

Just one comment about the swim shirts and rash guards that you find in most sporting goods stores: they are better for UV protection than for keeping in body heat. If you find yourself getting cold, you will probably want to look at one of the options above instead.

The recommended clothing can be purchased online, at many sports equipment and department stores.  We offer a limited assortment of thermal shirts for children through our office. We sell these items at heavily discounted prices (as we don’t want to profit on shivering).

SWIM CAPS

Ten percent of your body heat can be lost through your head!  A swimming cap can help trap that heat and keep you feeling toasty!
